With these cold plunge setup and maintenance steps, you’re all set to enjoy the rejuvenating benefits of your Ice Cap Cold Plunge Tub!

Step 1

Register

To ensure you're fully covered under Ice Cap's Limited Lifetime Warranty, register your Cold Plunge Tub™ after purchase.

Step 2

Check Equipment

Ensure all fittings are tight, valves are in the off position, and handles/hardware are securely fastened.

Step 3

Pick A Location

Choose a suitable and level location before filling with water, as moving the tub once filled can be challenging. Filling on an uneven surface can be dangerous and cause tipping.

Step 4

Drain System

Utilize the tub’s fill and drain system for easy use. Consider attaching a permanent hose for controlled filling and drainage away from the area.

Step 7

Attach Chiller

If you bought an Alpine Chiller, remove the caps on the sides and attach input and export hoses before filling. Only activate the chiller once the water level is above the designated locations.

Step 6

Add Cold Source

Incorporate your chosen cold source, such as ice or frozen bags, when calculating the fill line to achieve your desired temperature.

Step 8

Take The Plunge!

For beginners, we recommend starting at 60 degrees for three minutes and progressing to 40 degrees for four to five minutes for optimal results.

Cold Plunge Maintenance

Changing Water

This will be determined ultimately by the preference of the practitioner but at Icecap we designed very efficient systems for draining and filling your Cold Plunge Tub™. The cost to fill the tub is less than $3 in water. We believe in cycling water more frequently than putting chemicals in it. Without chemicals, we recommend changing the water around once a week. This also allows less chemicals like chlorine into plant life, soil, and water table when draining. Without the use of chemicals the gray water can be used for a number or additional purposes such as watering plants. Our mat can greatly help with the hygiene of the water by reducing the dirt and grime when entering your Cold Plung Tub.

How to Clean the Cold Plunge

Regularly cleaning your Cold Plunge Tub™ will help preserve the quality of your tub and ensure you have a hygienic experience every time.

  • To clean the Cold Plunge Tub, fully drain the tub
  • Gently wash with dish soap
  • Thoroughly rinse out all soap, dirt, and residue
  • Drain all remaining water

Storage Temps

It is always best to avoid extreme temperatures both hot and cold if at all possible. We also recommend not heating or chilling water outside of the suggested temperatures.

  • Never chill below 40ºF
  • Do not leave in direct sunlight for long periods of time
  • Store inside during extremely cold temperatures
  • Never leave water in tub below freezing temperatures

Storage & Transport

Properly secure and store your Ice Cap Cold Plunge Tub™ to ensure you do not warp or damage it and potentially void the lifetime warranty.

  • To protect against warping, store and transport upright
  • Never store heavy objects on top of the tub or tub cover
  • Do not over tighten security straps or lay on the side during transportation
  • Always use the insulated cover when not in use

Filling & Draining

Ice Cap features a fill and drain system underneath the entry step.

  • Two ball valve fittings with caps
  • One valve is intended for a fill hose to be permanently hooked to the valve—ensuring the hose does not fall out of the tub during filling
  • The second valve is intended as a drain for draining water away from where the Cold Plunge Tub is located
